30-hour rule

Dear AAUP-BHSNJ Members:
As you know, the Union has been pursuing the 30-hour rule for benefit eligibility under Obamacare with Rutgers.  Today, we received notification from Rutgers that the State has confirmed that the effective date for eligibility for benefits as a 30 hour or more employee is effective retroactive to January 1, 2015.  
Affected employees will be notified by Human Resources of the steps they need to take for enrollment and the amount of deductions that will need to be paid.
In addition, the Union continues to pursue reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses for those of you who should have been covered under the SHBP between 1/1/15 and the present.

As of July 1, 2013, based on the integration of SOM with Rowan University and the integration of the remaining units of the former UMDNJ with Rutgers University (as per the New 
Jersey Medical and Health Sciences Education Restructuring Act as of 2012) AAUP-UMDNJ became AAUP-BHSNJ.

 Faculty and Librarians of the former UMDNJ at both Rutgers and Rowan (and those hired into units of the former UMDNJ) are now part of the Biomedical and Health Sciences of New Jersey American Association of University Professors unit, AAUP-BHSNJ.
