AAUP Files Unfair Practice Charge Regarding Change in Clinic Hours/Workload at RWJ

Dear AAUP-BHSNJ Members:
Today, December 17, 2014, the AAUP-BHSNJ filed an Unfair Practice Charge (UPC) against Rutgers for implementing changes to the clinic hours and workload of our RWJ faculty without appropriate notice and negotiations with the Union.
We also met with Administration today to discuss the changes that have been made and those that we understand are scheduled to be made effective January 1, 2015.  It is the position of the Administration that they do not believe that the changes rise to the level of negotiations and further, that any changes that were made were simply to make sure that all of our faculty are treated fairly in terms of their clinic hours.

As of July 1, 2013, based on the integration of SOM with Rowan University and the integration of the remaining units of the former UMDNJ with Rutgers University (as per the New 
Jersey Medical and Health Sciences Education Restructuring Act as of 2012) AAUP-UMDNJ became AAUP-BHSNJ.

 Faculty and Librarians of the former UMDNJ at both Rutgers and Rowan (and those hired into units of the former UMDNJ) are now part of the Biomedical and Health Sciences of New Jersey American Association of University Professors unit, AAUP-BHSNJ.
