It has been several weeks since we last wrote you concerning finishing the faculty contract on your behalf. If you recall, we had applauded the administration for its progress. They finally agreed to give you two years of retroactive increases, fair taxation for UPA enrolled faculty, as well as more money in the research incentive. At the moment, we believe the parties are in agreement with the cost of the compensation provisions of the agreement.
However, there has been only one meeting in the last few weeks. We are not sure why the administration is now slowing down its efforts to get this done. There are outstanding issues concerning the ability to reduce salaries based on performance, our ability to take matters to binding arbitration, as well as parental leave that remain unresolved. We will push as strong as we can on these issues. We think it unfortunate that many of you have worked admirably in these difficult last few months and continue to do so during this national crisis. However, the Rutgers administration does not value you enough to push this over the finish line. We will provide an update in a couple of weeks and we hope to have better news.
Sincerely,
AAUP-BHSNJ
