We are happy to announce that in the last negotiation session the parties signed off on the health and safety article of the faculty contract. This is a welcome development. Due to our advocacy, the administration has added a security guard in the CAB, as well in the process of adding panic buttons to various clinical locations.
Also, since our last writing, the Administration has removed its proposal that would have required that all clinical faculty complete 8-10 clinic sessions a week regardless of their other responsibilities. Thank you to all of those who signed our "overworked and undersupported" petition. While this disaster has been averted, we hope the administration takes to heart survey results in both medical schools that show clinical faculty burnout slightly higher than the national average. We will continue to advocate for a workplace that supports faculty equal pay and work/life balance for everyone. RBHS still lags behind Boston University, UPENN, and many other schools in that they have not revamped their maternity/paternity leave policies. Please sign our petition asking the administration to include maternity/paternity leave as part of our contract. (link to petition)
