Our AAUP leadership and other Rutgers unions recently met with Chancellor Brian Strom to gain information about their planned alignment with the RWJ Barnabas health system. As you know, the planned partnership will have tremendous consequences for your employment and the future of health care in New Jersey. From this meeting, we have learned that they are still on track to sign a Master Agreement by July. Although this seems to be an ambitious time-frame, we are taking this prospect seriously. We stressed that any negative impact on faculty is not acceptable to our members. We made clear that we will take any means necessary to ensure that our interests are protected. In the coming weeks, you will hear from us as to what exact steps you can take to help us secure your future. It is imperative that you engage with us by attending meetings, staying informed, and taking any requested actions to become more involved.
