Rutgers/RWJBH Privatization

The RWJBH/Rutgers alignment is a transfer of the rights to collect revenue to the Rutgers Clinical Operation, as
well as the control associated with that operation. Over 20 years, this is a transfer of at least $10 billion to a
private entity, possibly more. In is not clear, what exactly Rutgers gets in return for privatization other than
some funds for research and buildings.

The final agreements are being signed as we speak

• This will make Rutgers financially dependent on RWJBH for billions in funding without any oversight.
• It will prevent you from having a say in how patient care is provided.
• It facilitates further movement of residents and services away from University Hospital-Newark, jeopardizing its Trauma 1 status. It may threaten other services provided to the New Brunswick and Newark communities.

• Join the AAUP-BHSNJ
If you are not a Voting Member of the faculty union, you are now not paying anything to support its efforts due to legal changes. • Call the Governor (609-292-6000)
Tell him that both his office and the public should review the deal before the Rutgers Board of Governors votes on it.
• Attend the Town Hall with Newark Mayor Ras Baraka
