AAUP and Rutgers Administration met today for 2 and 1/2 hours of negotiations.
AAUP used today’s session to re-focus discussion on your number one priority, compensation. We discussed increasing salaries, extramural support incentive awards, as well as an incentivized retirement package. Despite Rutgers’ proud announcement of exceeding its $1 billion fundraising goal and offering across-the-board increases to other union and non-union employees, Rutgers continues its resistance at our negotiating table.
Rutgers said today that it is not offering you an across-the-board increase because you are “different.”
The AAUP does believe you are different and told Administration so:
Our Schools are hemorrhaging faculty
Faculty in comparable departments at legacy Rutgers are paid more, on average, than our faculty
Our clinical Faculty make money for the University
OUR FACULTY HAS NOT RECEIVED AN INCREASE SINCE 2009
We are scheduled to meet again with Administration on February 17 and 23, 2015.
